Public Exhibit of Senior Housing Designs
Come view and be inspired by the architectural designs submitted by international contestants for the California Senior Housing Design Competition. This free public exhibit runs from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm on both Friday, 1/29/10 and Saturday, 1/30/10, and is sponsored by local nonprofits - Suburban Alternatives Land Trust and Northbay Family Homes.
SALT and NFH are committed to making homeownership attainable and affordable for Northbay residents. SALT and NFH have sponsored this design competition to generate ideas supporting the building of green, affordable homes for seniors constructed according to sustainable building practices.
On view will be over 60 designs, many of which were received internationally from architectural firms located in Japan, Croatia, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and of course, California and the United States. Please come out and enjoy these inspiring designs and share your thoughts on the best designs.
This stage of the competition will conclude early in February with a panel of experts in housing design, landscape architecture, horticulture, sustainable building practices, and construction costs, together with representatives from the community, banking and smart growth organizations, who will choose the top five finalists. These finalists will compete in a second phase of the competition to become the architect of the project's construction plans.
